As an MVP finalist and the NBA’s three-time defending scoring champion, All-Star guard James Harden is clearly the best and most valuable player on the 2019-20 Rockets. He’s also the most tenured player on the roster, having played for eight consecutive seasons in Houston.
Based on his accomplishments and that experience, it makes perfect sense for Harden to take on a leadership role within the locker room. And that’s exactly what “The Beard” did Sunday by gifting the entire team with custom headphones to kick off their 2020 playoff run.
As shown in the video, Harden enlisted rookie guard Chris Clemons to do the grunt work of physically handing them out to all players.
With the 2020 playoffs held at the NBA “bubble” at Disney World in Florida, many players have more time to pass than usual, since they don’t have in-person access to most of their family and/or friends. Thus, the new Beats by Dre headphones should be put to use quickly.
Game 1 of the first-round series between Harden’s Rockets and the Oklahoma City Thunder tips off at 5:30 p.m. Central on Tuesday evening, with a national broadcast on TNT and a regional version (with Houston announcers) shown on AT&T SportsNet Southwest.
