James Harden becomes first Net to win East Player of the Week twice in a season since 2014-15

James Harden had a big week for the Brooklyn Nets, leading them to an unbeaten stretch out West.

James Harden has been with the Brooklyn Nets for just over five weeks, and he’s already earned his second Eastern Conference Player of the Week nod. The Nets went 4-0 from Monday, Feb. 15 to Sunday, Feb. 21, capping a perfect 5-0 West Coast trip with a win over the Los Angeles Clippers on Sunday.

During the four-game span, Harden averaged 31.8 points per game on 55% shooting (48.6% from 3-point range) and 80.8% shooting at the free-throw line. He averaged 10.8 assists, nine rebounds and 1.3 steals per game on 37.4 minutes per game.

Harden, who has earned Player of the Week honors 26 times throughout his NBA career, is the first Nets player to receive such honors twice in a season since Brook Lopez did so in 2014-15.

Washington’s Bradley Beal and Russell Westbrook, Miami’s Jimmy Butler, Philadelphia’s Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons, Chicago’s Zach LaVine, New York’s Julius Randle, Toronto’s Fred VanVleet and Orlando’s Nikola Vucevic were the other East nominees for the week of Monday, Feb. 15 to Sunday, Feb. 21.

Out West, Portland’s Damian Lillard received Player of the Week honors this time around.
