Arizona Cardinals running back James Conner was passed over for the NFC Offensive Player of the Week, but he did get league honors for his play in Week 13.
After he rushed for 105 yards and two touchdowns on Sunday in the Cardinals’ 24-10 road win over the Pittsburgh Steelers, he was named the FedEx NFL Ground Player of the Week.
He was nominated early in the week and fans voted him the winner.
It is the first time a Cardinals running back has won the honors since Kenyan Drake did in Week 15 of 2019 when he scored four touchdowns against the Cleveland Browns.
Connor has won it three times now in his career. The other two times were in 2018 as a member of the Steelers.
For winning the FedEx Ground NFL Player of the Week Award, FedEx will make a $2,000 donation in Conner’s name to a Historically Black College or University (HBCU), which will be applied towards needs-based scholarships to deserving HBCU students.
