James Borrego on LaMelo’s All-Star debut: ‘He looked like he belonged’

LaMelo’s proved the bright lights of All-Star Weekend weren’t too bright.

LaMelo Ball played in his first All-Star Game last weekend in Cleveland and showed why he is indeed a star in this league.

LaMelo finished with 18 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals on 7-of-11 shooting from the field and 4-of-8 from downtown as Team Durant fell to Team LeBron, 164-160.

Hornets coach James Borrego spoke highly of his star point guard, stating that Ball ‘belonged’ out there amongst the league’s best.

“He looked like he belonged because he does belong,” Borrego said of Ball in the All-Star Game.

LaMelo was an injury replacement for team captain Kevin Durant, who had the miss the game due to injury.

“Being around that greatness pushes you to be great…I’m really happy for him,” Borrego said.

Ball was out on the floor in crunch time for Team Durant in the fourth quarter and if that doesn’t tell you what his All-Star coaches and teammates think of him, then I’m not sure what does.
