Cincinnati Bengals rookie receiver Ja’Marr Chase made it clear as soon as the team drafted him that he wants to take down every franchise record and win the Rookie of the Year award.
And oddsmakers don’t doubt the fifth overall pick much, either.
Looking at the 2021 Offensive Rookie of the Year odds at BetMGM, Chase slots sixth to win the award at +1100.
Only Trevor Lawrence, Justin Fields, Zach Wilson, Trey Lance and Kyle Pitts have better odds than Chase to win the award. He’s tied with Steelers running back Najee Harris.
It’s no great shock to see the quarterbacks listed above Chase, as is mostly tradition. Most of those passers aren’t even guaranteed to play enough snaps to qualify for an award, but that’s just the usual for the position. Pitts in such a high-flying Atlanta attack might be the most dangerous to steal the award.
But Chase is in what projects to be a pretty stellar passing attack too. If he sees more targets than teammates Tyler Boyd and Tee Higgins while rekindling some of that epic 2019 LSU connection with Joe Burrow, he’ll surge from a small underdog role to win the whole thing.
Burrow, by the way, has some rather noteworthy odds for NFL MVP in 2021.
