Former LSU wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase made it official on Tuesday that he has officially declared for the 2021 NFL draft.
He took to Twitter with the news on Tuesday, tweeting, “After 2 weeks of discussing with my family I have decided to officially declare for the 2021 NFL Draft.”
Chase’s declaration is not a surprise as he announced on Aug. 31 that he would be opting out of the 2020 college football season due to concerns regarding COVID-19.
A consensus All-American in 2019, Chase also won the Biletnikoff Award, given annually to college football’s top wide receiver. Chase set SEC records with 20 touchdown receptions and 1,780 receiving yards.

Several players have opted out of the 2020 season, many of which are projected to be first-round selections, such as Chase.
The 6-foot-1, 200-pound speedster is likely to be among the first players draft in 2021.
Chase finished his two-year run in Baton Rouge with 27 games played, 107 receptions, 2,093 yards and 23 touchdowns.

It will be interesting to see who within LSU’s corps of wide receivers steps up to fill the void of Chase this year.
