Not too long ago, Cincinnati Bengals coaches noted they wanted to use Ja’Marr Chase more in the slot.

Primarily a boundary receiver, Chase didn’t see a ton of slot work last year. But the idea of the coaches is to get even more out of him next season while countering the inevitable adjustments opposing defenses makes.

Chase? He’s all about seeing more work in the slot even though it’s “more TB’s thing,” according to Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com.

“I’m cool in the slot. I just need more reps in it,” Chase said. “It doesn’t really matter to me. It’s just another way for me to get the ball. There’s no way to get open easy. Just get the ball in another way.”

Chase worked from the slot on a certain 72-yard touchdown against the Kansas City Chiefs recently, so its not like defenses won’t have at least a little to study on this front.

Still, Joe Burrow being able to move his guys around to create mismatches — including putting one of the league’s best in the slot — could force defenses into uncomfortable spots.

Written another way, it’s something notable to watch in training camp soon.
