Jalen Thompson, Zeke Turner fined in loss to 49ers

Turner was fined for his facemask penalty. Thompson’s fine is a mystery.

The Arizona Cardinals had two players fined for unnecessary roughness in their loss to the San Francisco 49ers.

The league’s gameday accountability page had safety Jalen Thompson and linebacker Zeke Turner getting fined.

Turner was fined for unnecessary roughness on a facemask penalty he committed in the first quarter. It cost him $10,927.

Thompson was fined $18,222 for unnecessary roughness. It was supposedly for a play at with 6:11 in the second quarter. That was a play when Christian McCaffrey was tackled by Roy Lopez for a two-yard run. There was no flag on the play.

A look back at that play shows Thompson did nothing.

At 5:22 remaining in the second quarter, cornerback Kris Boyd was penalized for unnecessary roughness when he was in an altercation after a kickoff.

Per the league’s accountability report, Boyd apparently was not fined.
