The Los Angeles Rams were forced to face the Dolphins without their top cornerback on Sunday afternoon, which came as a surprise. After the Dolphins’ first series, the Rams announced that Jalen Ramsey was questionable to return with an illness.
The news came out of nowhere, especially considering how early in the game it was. But Ramsey never played a snap and was sidelined for all 60 minutes, leading to David Long Jr. playing increased reps.
After the game, Sean McVay was asked what happened with Ramsey and why he didn’t play. He told reporters that Ramsey woke up feeling ill and went through several tests, which confirmed it wasn’t COVID-related.
Sean McVay says Rams CB Jalen Ramsey woke up ill and had a bunch of tests. He is allowed to fly home with the Rams, but: "I can't say anything more."

Ramsey is allowed to fly home with the Rams after their 28-17 loss after clearing all the necessary protocols related to COVID-19. He can also be around the team after they return to L.A., though he’ll have plenty of time to get better as the Rams have a bye in Week 9.
