Jalen Ramsey and Robbie Gould don’t have many things in common. Sure, they’re both All-Pro football players whose efforts have been crucial to pushing the Los Angeles Rams and San Francisco 49ers within one game of Super Bowl 56. Other than that, they’re pretty different.
Ramsey is a 27-year-old cornerback and former top five draft pick for which the Rams once traded two first round picks to acquire. Gould is a 39-year-old kicker who was once cut by the Chicago Bears (lol). But for one brief moment when they shared the field in the NFC Conference Championship game, they found something over which they could bond.
Their love of trash talking.
Gould drained a 38-yard kick to end the second quarter and extend his perfect streak to 21 straight playoff field goals. At the end of the play, FOX cameras caught him jawing at Ramsey. Ramsey was happy to fire back, and the two wound up separated by 49ers linemen as they jogged off the field and toward the locker room. Notably, San Francisco’s blockers appeared to be pulling their kicker away from the LA cornerback as if to tell the world “we’re keeping you safe here, we have no idea what this old man and his dad strength are capable of.”
Why would Ramsey be so salty with Gould? It could have something to do with his 0-6 record against the 49ers over the course of his six-year career.
