It seems like just about everyone is creating a top-5 or top-10 list of NFL players at positions these days. It’s great offseason fodder; a chance to reflect what works for certain players across the league and appreciate the growth from talents on an annual basis. Now is the time to do it — with training camp just around the corner it won’t be long before top-5 lists are a thing of the past.
That goes for All-Pro cornerback Jalen Ramsey, too. Ramsey got in on the action with a top-5 ranking of cornerbacks in the NFL recently on an appearance on the “Million Dollaz Worth of Game” podcast. But Ramsey’s list came with a twist: it was which players he’d most like to team up with and create a super-duo with if he had the chance.
Among those to make the top of the list? Dolphins’ Xavien Howard.
“This is tough, too, because I’ve got a lot of respect for a lot of DBs because it ain’t really me against them. It’s me against the receiver, so I’ve got a lot of respect for them,” said Ramsey. “Everybody’s got their different styles so my top five, off my opinion and my style – like, who I like to watch and even who I would like to team up with if I had the chance: Stephon Gilmore, I like his style. Tre’Davious White, Buffalo Bills. I’ll go Xavien Howard. And I’ll go Jaire Alexander, Green Bay.”
Perhaps it is a little bit of gamesmanship from Ramsey that he’s placed Gilmore and Howard so high on the list; seeing as both are players who are rumored to be on the trade block due to contract disputes. Of course, Los Angeles’ ability to offer either team a trade proposal worthwhile may be limited, given that they’ve surrendered their first-round draft picks since 2024 in order to acquire QB Matthew Stafford.
But hey — a guy can dream. Right?
