Allen Robinson was supposed to be an upgrade as the No. 2 receiver next to Cooper Kupp. They signed him this offseason to take the place of Robert Woods, who was traded to the Titans shortly thereafter.
Yet, through nine games, Robinson has just 29 catches for 292 yards and two touchdowns. His 32.4 yards per game are a career-low, worse than even last season when he finished with just 410 yards in 12 games.
Jalen Ramsey was teammates with Robinson in Jacksonville and is now with him in Los Angeles, so he knows the talent A-Rob possesses. On “The Shop” Thursday night during Packers-Titans, Ramsey was asked what happened to Robinson this season.
He believes part of it is a lack of chemistry with Matthew Stafford.
“I don’t know, to be honest,” Ramsey said. “I feel like he’s gotta get a little bit more chemistry with Stafford but now with Cooper (out), I think we’re gonna have to lean on him a lot more.”
LeBron James then asked Ramsey about Van Jefferson, who returned from a knee injury a few weeks ago.
“He came back last week. He had a touchdown,” Ramsey said. “He’s working his way back in, though. We got some receivers, they just gotta get some confidence and chemistry with Stafford. They’re gonna get right.”
The loss of Cooper Kupp is a huge one for the Rams, and both Jefferson and Robinson will need to step up on offense. They’ll likely be the top two receivers without Kupp, alongside Ben Skowronek.
With how reliant the Rams are on Kupp, it’s going to become even tougher for them to move the ball consistently on offense.
