Jalen Milroe reportedly QB1 for Alabama to start the 2023 season

ESPN’s Chris Low reported that Jalen Milroe will start at quarterback in Alabama’s season-opener against Middle Tennessee State. It will be Milroe’s second career start.

Alabama has found its starter at the quarterback position for Week 1 of the 2023 season. According to ESPN’s Chris Low, redshirt sophomore Jalen Milroe will be the Crimson Tide’s starting quarterback against Middle Tennessee State.

With that said, Milroe will be making the second start of his college career. His first start came in 2022 against Texas A&M while Bryce Young was sidelined with a shoulder injury. Milroe completed 12 of his 19 pass attempts for 111 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception. He also had 17 carries for 81 yards.

Milroe’s playmaking ability is something that stands out about his style. Every time that Milroe touches the football, he is capable of reeling off a long run. Alabama fans have seen that a time or two in recent years.

Milroe will start the game for Alabama on Saturday, but other quarterbacks could receive snaps as well. Redshirt sophomore Tyler Buchner, redshirt freshman Ty Simpson, and freshman Dylan Lonergan have been competing for the starting quarterback job throughout spring and fall practices.

Needless to say, it will be interesting to see the game plan that offensive coordinator Tommy Rees has in place for Milroe. The world will find out what is in store at the quarterback position for the Crimson Tide on Saturday evening.

Roll Tide Wire will continue to follow Alabama football and the constantly evolving quarterback situation in the 2023 season.
