Jalen McMillan is quickly turning into a star for not just the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but for fantasy football players as well. Early in Week 17, which is championship weekend for most fantasy leagues, the former Washington Huskies standout gave his newfound fans plenty to cheer about.
With a little over a minute remaining in the first half against the Carolina Panthers, quarterback Baker Mayfield looked towards the end zone and found the rookie who the Buccaneers selected in the third round of April’s draft for a 10-yard score.
The touchdown extended Tampa Bay’s lead to 27-6 over their division rivals as they fight to keep their playoff hopes alive in the NFC South. It was also McMillan’s only catch of the first half.
In the absence of All-Pro wide receiver Chris Godwin and another former Husky, tight end Cade Otton, McMillan has established himself as one of Mayfield’s go-to targets. While he’s becoming a reliable target, he has a long way to go to usurp Tampa Bay’s top receiver, All-Pro Mike Evans, who scored twice in the first half.
