Jalen Hurts to wear No. 2 for Philadelphia Eagles

Jalen Hurts will wear No. 2 for Philadelphia Eagles

After spending his senior year with Oklahoma donning the No. 1 jersey, Jalen Hurts will be returning to No. 2 for the Eagles.

Hurts revealed his jersey choice with a video on twitter that read “Back 2 Basics.”

Hurts spend three years with Alabama before spending final year in college at Oklahoma, where CeeDee Lamb was already No. 2 for the Sooners.

Hurts threw for over 2,000 yards in each of his first two seasons with the Crimson Tide before No. 4 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft Tua Tagovailoa eventually overtook him as starter. Hurts finished with just 765 passing yards on 70 attempts in his junior season with Alabama.

With Oklahoma, he finished as Heisman runner-up, throwing for 3,851 yards, scoring 32 passing touchdowns with just eight interceptions. He also tacked on 20 rushing touchdowns and 1,298 yards on the ground.

With his athleticism and ability to run the ball, Hurts’ role with the Eagles is currently up in the air. It’s been speculated he could play a flex type role with Philadelphia, but Oklahoma head coach Lincoln Riley said every team he spoke with looked at Hurts purely as a quarterback.

No matter the position Hurts is in when he takes the field, he’ll have the No. 2 on his jersey.
