Former Alabama and Oklahoma quarterback, Jalen Hurts, already made his NFL debut in Week 2 for the Philadelphia Eagles, but was used as a decoy. Today, in Week 3 against the Cincinnati Bengals, Hurts took his first snap as an NFL quarterback.
Hurts, who was drafted in the second round by the Eagles in the 2020 NFL draft, sits behind Carson Went on the depth chart. While Went does have the occasional injury, Hurts was expected to be utilized in some capacity.
Turns out, he’s more than just a decoy.
In his first snap taken in the NFL against the Bengals, Hurts ran it for a first down.
Hurts, a 2019 Heisman finalist, ha officially gotten his professional career underway.
The run was around seven yards, which is exactly what they needed to keep their possession alive.
