It appears that Jalen Hurts is going back to the number he wore for the Oklahoma Sooners in 2019. Prior to joining the Sooners as a member of the Alabama Crimson Tide, Hurts wore No. 2, much like he did during his rookie season for the Philadelphia Eagles. After winning a National Championship with the Tide, he transferred to Norman. CeeDee Lamb was already wearing No. 2 and Hurts went with No. 1.
Following the 2020 season, Hurts is going back to that number. Following the trade of Carson Wentz to the Indianapolis Colts and the team trading out of the top 10 in the NFL draft, Hurts is viewed as the guy moving forward. Last season Hurts appeared in 15 games with four starts as a rookie. He will likely be the full 17-game starter in 2021.
To be QB1, you need the jersey number to match.
