Jalen Hurts earning high praise and rave reviews from new Philadelphia Eagles teammates Terrell Edmunds and Nicholas Morrow

In 2022, Jalen Hurts had one of the best regular seasons in Eagles franchise history, and by all accounts, he’s looking even better during the off-season program.

After Philadelphia’s latest OTA practice, ESPN’s Tim McManus reported that several new Eagles were highly impressed with the MVP runner-up.

“Man, he’s super smart,” said former Pittsburgh Steelers safety Terrell Edmunds, who signed a one-year deal with Philadelphia in March. “You can just tell the way he can diagnose a play, what he’s looking at, what kind of keys he’s trying to check for, and he’s trying to eye control the safety so they can get you off leverage and everything. He’s as advertised and he goes out there every day with that hard hat on.”

Newly signed free agent and former Bears linebacker Nicholas Morrow highlighted Hurts’ improved accuracy and decision-making.

“He’s also getting the ball out pretty fast,” Morrow said. “Setting up and breaking, you’ve really got to be on your P’s and Q’s if you’re in some kind of vision-break defense to understand where he is in his intentions.”

Hurts displayed elite growth as a passer in 2022, climbing from 19th (54.6) to fourth (66.4) in QBR and 26th (61.3%) to 11th (66.5%) in completion percentage per McManus.

Hurts significantly improved overall in 2022, leading the Eagles (14-3) to the Super Bowl while amassing Pro Bowl, All-Pro, and MVP nominations.

The former Alabama and Oklahoma star led Philadelphia to a 14-1 regular season record (.933 winning percentage) as a starter, completing 306-of-460 (66.5%) attempts for 3,701 yards (8.0 avg.), 22 TDs, 6 INTs, and 101.6 passer rating, while also rushing for 760 yards and 13 TDs. In total, Hurts combined for 4,461 yards and 35 TDs.

Now blessed with a massive contract extension, he’s the face of the franchise and one of the NFL’s top five quarterbacks.
