Five-star prospects Jalen Green and Isaiah Todd were among the players that have arrived in California to begin training with the newly-created NBA G League Select Team.
The NBA G League announced in April its plans to launch a new developmental team as an alternative path for elite prospects wanting to play professionally. Green and Todd were the first two players to commit to the revamped program.
In addition to Green and Todd, prospects Daishen Nix, Kai Sotto and Jonathan Kuminga signed with the team while Princepal Singh, a 6-foot-10 forward from India, became the first NBA Academy India graduate to sign with the team.
The group of players will begin skill work in Walnut Creek with head coach Brian Shaw. The players will also be coached by assistant coach Rasheed Abdul-Rahman, video coordinator Jerry Woods and athletic trainer Pete Youngman.
The Select Team will be filled with veteran players to help mentor the prospects. They will participate in exhibition games against other G League teams and international clubs and will play 10-12 games that won’t count against the standings.
