Fair or not, Devon Witherspoon is always going to be linked to Jalen Carter – the consensus top prospect in the 2023 NFL draft class who the Seahawks passed on at No. 5 overall. Instead they went with Witherspoon, who is expected to make his debut for Seattle on Sunday against the Lions.
Witherspoon already has an extremely high bar to meet if he’s ever going to be compared favorably with the eventual No. 9 overall pick. In Week 1 Carter was arguably the best interior defensive lineman in the league and last night against the Vikings he showcased more of that awesome disruptive potential. Here’s every snap he played.

While Witherspoon has plenty of time to catch up with Carter, he’s gotten off to a slow start by missing about half of the team’s offseason program due to a lingering hamstring injury that dates back to his time at Illinois.
