Jaguars pair a CB with Tyson Campbell in NFL Network mock draft

Is a cornerback to pair with Tyson Campbell the smart move for the Jaguars?

Wide receiver and tight end have been frequently matched with the Jacksonville Jaguars in early mock drafts, but Bucky Brooks went in a different direction in his first projection of the 2023 offseason.

Brooks thinks Georgia cornerback Kelee Ringo is a logical choice for the Jaguars with the 24th overall pick.

Adding another former Bulldog corner to play opposite Tyson Campbell could allow the Jaguars to play more man-to-man coverage on the perimeter.

Ringo, 20, missed the his true freshman year due to a shoulder injury, but played two seasons as a starter at Georgia before declaring for the 2023 NFL Draft after his redshirt sophomore season. The Bulldogs, led by an elite defense, won national championships in both of Ringo’s seasons with the team.

The Jaguars opened the 2022 season with Campbell manning one side of the field and Shaquill Griffin starting on the other side. Griffin missed the majority of the year due to injury and the Jaguars rotated a few players on the outside before Darious Williams settled into the role.

Jacksonville’s pass defense finished the regular season 28th in yards allowed and gave up the 11th most passing touchdowns.
