Per #Jaguars PR, the following players will be inactive for today’s game:
WR Tyron Johnson
RB Devine Ozigbo
CB Tre Herndon
TE Jacob Hollister
OLB/DE Jordan Smith#DUUUVAL— 𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐥 𝐒𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐡 🇵🇭 (@PhiltheFilipino) November 14, 2021
The Jacksonville Jaguars have deemed five players inactive this week against the Indianapolis Colts and running back James Robinson isn’t among them. Multiple reporters revealed that he would be suiting up Sunday after being considered a game-time decision.
With Robinson set to go, the Jags decided to make running back Devine Ozigbo inactive this week. That means the Jags will have three active running backs when they take the field in Robinson, Carlos Hyde, and Dare Ogunbowale.
Joining Ozigbo on the inactive list are receiver Tyron Johnson, cornerback Tre Herndon, tight end Jacob Hollister, and pass rusher Jordan Smith.
The Jags added Johnson to their active roster before Week 1’s game against the Houston Texans, but when active he hasn’t been able to get going. They also signed receiver Laquon Treadwell off the practice squad, so making a receiver inactive makes sense if the Jags need depth elsewhere.
Herndon was listed with the inactives last week, and Rudy Ford flourished while mostly taking his snaps at the nickelback role. Additionally, coach Urban Meyer stated that he believed Herndon wasn’t 100% from the knee injury he sustained in the preseason, which also could be a reason they are holding him back.
At tight end, the Jags seem to really like the trio that is active in Chris Manhertz, Luke Farrell, and Dan Arnold. Arnold has established himself as the receiving threat of the bunch, while Manhertz and Farrell or more so utilized for their blocking ability. As a result, Hollister has been inactive for multiple weeks.
Lastly, with Jordan Smith, it appears the Jags simply believe the rookie needs more development. He has yet to be active in a game, but his time could come eventually down the road this season.
