Jaguars fall back to the bottom spot on USA TODAY’s power rankings after Week 4

The Jaguars reoccupied the No. 32 spot after a brief one-week vacation.

A somewhat competitive game against an Arizona Cardinals team that is still undefeated was enough to move the Jags off the bottom spot of USA TODAY’s NFL power rankings last week, but it seems that moment was short-lived. The team has now found itself back at the bottom of the league after they lost to the Cincinnati Bengals on Thursday night and the previously No. 32 New York Jets scored an upset win over the Tennessee Titans.

In Nate Davis’ power rankings, the team now ranks 32nd for the third out of three weeks this season. It doesn’t help, either, that the loss to the Bengals was immediately followed by a major distraction in the form of the viral video of coach Urban Meyer at the bar.

Davis kept his take on the Jaguars brief.

Shouldn’t Urban Meyer apologize for being a distraction over the previous nine months as well?

Things look to be going from bad to worse in Jacksonville, and while the team has improved week-to-week (especially the play of rookie quarterback Trevor Lawrence), it’s still 0-4 with a not very positive outlook on the rest of the season. With the controversy surrounding Meyer, that outlook only gets worse.
