For the third straight week, Jacksonville Jaguars tight end Josh Pederson has been elevated from the practice squad to the active roster.
Pederson, son of Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson, has temporarily filled in as the team’s third tight end while rookie Brenton Strange has been dealing with a foot injury. Strange returned to the practice field this week on a limited basis and is questionable for Week 15 against the Baltimore Ravens. The activation of Pederson likely means Strange will sit out once again.
A practice squad player can be elevated to the active roster just three times per season. If the Jaguars hope to get Pederson on the field again after Sunday, the team would have to sign the tight end to the active roster.
In the last two weeks, Pederson has been on the field for 20 snaps, only seven of which came on offense. He has not recorded a reception.
Prior to joining the Jaguars in the offseason, Pederson had brief stints with the San Francisco 49ers, New Orleans Saints, and Kansas City Chiefs, but never saw regular season action with any of those three teams. He also played for the USFL’s Houston Gamblers.
