Jaguars draft Penn State WR Parker Washington with No. 185 pick

For the second time this draft, the Jaguars added a Penn State pass catcher.

The Jacksonville Jaguars selected Penn State wide receiver Parker Washington in the sixth round of the 2023 NFL draft with the No. 185 overall pick.

Washington is a speedy 5’10, 204-pound receiver who led the Nittany Lions in receiving yards last season, but suffered an undisclosed season-ending injury in November that kept him from participating in the team’s pro day.

In three seasons at Penn State, Washington had 146 receptions for 1,920 yards and 12 touchdowns. He also contributed as a returner.

While the Jaguars added Calvin Ridley to a wide receiving corps that already had Christian Kirk, Zay Jones, and return specialist Jamal Agnew, there’s little depth behind that group and Washington is set to compete with relatively untested players like Tim Jones, Kevin Austin Jr., and Kendric Pryor for a spot on the roster.

Washington is the second Penn State pass catcher to be drafted by the Jaguars this season, joining second-round tight end Brenton Strange.
