The Jacksonville Jaguars are riding high after a dominant 24-0 win over the Indianapolis Colts in Week 2 that moved the team to first place in the AFC South.
But Jaguars coach Doug Pederson is working to remind his team that it doesn’t matter who is in first place in mid-September.
“It’s the ‘So what? Now what?’ mentality,” Pederson told reporters Wednesday. “We don’t really care — you know, wins are great in this league, and they’re hard to come by and we like them — but it’s my job to make sure that the goals and the ambitions and the things we’re trying to get done stay in front of the football team.
“It’s a long, long season. You hear that all the time, but it really is, and it’s just one game. We’ve got a long way to go.”
In Week 3, the Jaguars will travel across the country to play the Los Angeles Chargers. In five all-time road trips to play the Chargers, the Jaguars are 0-5. Trevor Lawrence is also 0-9 in his career on the road.
The Jaguars are listed as a touchdown underdog against the 1-1 Chargers.
