The New York Jets no longer are winless after upsetting the Los Angeles Rams Sunday, giving them a 1-13 record. They now share the same record as the Jacksonville Jaguars, who were dominated by the Baltimore Ravens hours before in a game that ended with a 40-14 final.
With the Jets acquiring a victory against a very good Rams team, they jumped the Jags in USA Today’s latest power rankings, putting the Cardiac Cats at the very bottom of the list.
32. Jaguars (31): It’s only about six hours from Clemson QB Trevor Lawrence’s Cartersville, Ga., home to Jacksonville … though slightly further to London. Get your passport ready, buddy.
While the Jets’ win over the Rams was a huge upset and one that would typically excite their fanbase, it potentially came at the expense of the highest-rated quarterback in quite some time: Clemson’s Trevor Lawrence. They were first in the draft order before the win, but the NFL’s tiebreaker rules now give the Jags the inside track to Lawrence.
As for the rest of the AFC South, the Houston Texans weren’t far behind the Jags at No. 29 while the Indianapolis Colts came in at the No. 11 spot. The Tennessee Titans acquired the highest spot in the AFC South (No. 5) as they continue to lead the division and had a victory over the Detroit Lions Sunday.
