The Jacksonville Jaguars have a lot of problems, but having a lot of money tied into the quarterback position isn’t one of them. With just Gardner Minshew II and Joshua Dobbs both on their rookie contracts, the Jags currently have the least amount of money invested into the quarterback position.
Interesting graph from @spotrac on the biggest QB cap hits for 2020.#Colts have $47 million at the quarterback position. By far and away the most in the league. pic.twitter.com/ggOOJa2pGW

Per Spotrac, the Jags have just over $1.5 million invested into the quarterback position. Of course, that’s because Minshew is on a rookie contract as a sixth-round pick while Dobbs is on a rookie contract as a fourth-rounder. In 2020, their cap hits will be amounts of $722,904 and $825K, respectively.
By comparison, what the Jags will be investing in the quarterback position is significantly less than that of their division rivals in the Indianapolis Colts, who will have $47 million tied into the position between Philip Rivers, Jacoby Brissett and Chad Kelly. That’s good for the highest figure in the league at the position.
As most are aware, Rivers signed a one-year deal worth $25 million last month, all of which is guaranteed. Brissett, on the other hand, signed a pretty solid two-year deal himself in 2019 worth $30 million in all with $20 million being guaranteed. His cap hit will be $21.3 million this season.
Kelly, on the other hand, will be making slightly more than Minshew and will be a $750K cap hit next season.
The Jags’ cap number at the quarterback position will definitely increase in the future as they will undoubtedly add a veteran or rookie to the mix. Still, the figure shouldn’t increase too drastically, which should set them up well to build around Minshew in 2020-21.
