Jadeveon Clowney on free agency: ‘I’m just waiting on the right opportunity’

For the first time in months, free-agent pass rusher Jadeveon Clowney spoke to the media and gave some insight into his current status in free agency.

According to Mark Berman of FOX 26 Houston, Clowney has been working out down in Houston four days per week and is fully recovered from sports hernia surgery.

He also made it clear he’s in no rush to make a decision, while also citing the challenges the current coronavirus pandemic presents in getting a physical for teams interested in signing him.

Clowney acknowledged that “it’s a slow process” and that he’s “waiting on the right opportunity.”

Clowney, who spent the 2019 season with the Seattle Seahawks, hasn’t closed the door on re-signing with his old team.

The Tennessee Titans are one of the teams linked to Clowney in free agency and general manager Jon Robinson has admitted the team is interested in signing him.

However, it appears that Clowney is intent on waiting for the right deal, and his inability to get checked out by a team’s doctor has only helped to delay the process.

A recent report from ESPN’s Dianna Russini revealed that both the Titans and Seahawks have made ‘multiple offers’ to Clowney, but neither team has met his asking price and that “he is just not in a hurry to sign.”

ESPN’s Jordan Raanan echoed that report and noted that Clowney wants to have the ability to get a physical in the hopes that he can maximize what interested teams are offering.

Will the Titans continue to wait on the biggest fish left on the free-agent market? We’ll just have to wait and see how this all plays out.
