Jadeveon Clowney expected to sign with Titans

Jadeveon Clowney is reportedly expected to sign with the Titans.

The Jadeveon Clowney watch is finally over it seems, as the former No. 1 overall pick is expected to sign with the Tennessee Titans, according to ESPN’s Dianna Russini.

While it remains to be seen how ready Clowney will be for the start of the season after signing so late in the game, his addition is certainly a welcomed one with all the question marks the Titans have in the pass-rush department.

The Titans’ biggest free-agent acquisition before inking Clowney was outside linebacker Vic Beasley, who was the team’s solution to help improve the pass-rush.

However, after reporting late to camp, Beasley remains on the NFI list and has yet to practice, and there’s simply no telling what he’ll be able to contribute in 2020.

The good news for Clowney being ready for the start of the season is that he’s already familiar with head coach Mike Vrabel’s defense. Vrabel was the Houston Texans’ linebackers coach from 2014-16, and then the defensive coordinator in 2017, the same season Clowney totaled a career-high 9.5 sacks.

If the Titans can get Clowney acclimated and Beasley is able to keep his head on straight from here on out, Tennessee is set to have quite the formidable pass-rush trio at EDGE with Clowney, Beasley, and Harold Landry.
