Ja Morant will miss Tuesday’s Lakers versus Grizzlies game

The Lakers will catch a break on Tuesday when Ja Morant will not suit up for their game against the Grizzlies.

The Los Angeles Lakers are badly in need of wins in bunches right now, especially with LeBron James sidelined due to a right foot tendon injury that could keep him out until next month.

They have won five of their last eight games, but they’re coming off a disappointing 110-102 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves in which they appeared to lack energy and intensity.

Los Angeles will face a stiff challenge on Sunday when it hosts a Golden State Warriors team that will likely have Stephen Curry back in uniform.

After that, it will face the Memphis Grizzlies, but it will catch a break. Ja Morant will not suit up for that contest.

Morant will sit for a little while after he posted an Instagram Live video that showed him gleefully toting a gun at a nightclub. This incident, along with a few others he’s been involved in, has raised serious questions about his maturity.

The same night they host the Morant-less Grizzlies, the Lakers will retire Pau Gasol’s No. 16 jersey in what will surely be a very emotional ceremony for the two-time NBA champion.
