With a chance to clinch a spot in a potential play-in game in the Western Conference, the Memphis Grizzlies came up just short on Sunday after losing to the Toronto Raptors, 108-99.

The Grizzlies trailed by as many as 18 points in the fourth quarter but were unable to cut the deficit to fewer than three points. Dillon Brooks scored a team-high 25 points during the loss while Ja Morant recorded his 13th double-double of the season with 17 points and 10 assists.

During the Grizzlies’ fourth-quarter comeback attempt, Morant linked up with De’Anthony Melton to throw down a massive alley-oop dunk as only he could.

The loss by the Grizzlies ensures a play-in tournament will be played in the Western Conference between the teams in eighth place and ninth place. During the play-in tournament, the ninth-placed team will have to win twice in order to secure the playoff berth.

Morant, who was named a finalist for the Rookie of the Year award on Saturday, has stepped up during the restart without Jaren Jackson Jr. in the lineup. He has led the Grizzlies in spectacular fashion but will need to continue his efforts to get his team in the playoffs.

The Grizzlies play next on Tuesday vs. the Boston Celtics.
