Ja Morant nearly had the highest-scoring Grizzlies triple-double

The second overall pick finished two points shy of recording the highest-scoring triple-double in Grizzlies franchise history.

There have been 18 triple-doubles in Memphis Grizzlies franchise history and Ja Morant nearly posted the highest-scoring one in just his first season in the NBA.

The second overall pick recorded his first career triple-double on Sunday night in a 106-99 win over the Washington Wizards with 27 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists. His 10 rebounds set a new career-high while it was the 10th time this season he has dished out at least 10 assists.

As noted by Basketball-Reference, Morant finished just two points shy of recording the highest-scoring triple-double in Grizzlies history as Marc Gasol and Zach Randolph each hold the record with 28 points, respectively.

Morant recorded four triple-doubles during his two years in college at Murray State and will likely one day set the Grizzlies franchise career record as Gasol is the current leader with five.

With Morant at the helm, the Grizzlies have posted the eighth-best record in the Western Conference at 27-26 and appear to be a contender to the make the playoffs this season.
