J. Michael Sturdivant named to Biletnikoff watch list

Sturdivant makes the cut!

The UCLA football program has a lot of talent returning. Despite a head caching change, a lot of big names decided to remain in Westwood, including wide receiver J. Michael Sturdivant.

Sturdivant made the CBS top-100 players list in the offseason, and now the Bruins star is on the watch list for the Biletnikoff Award, which is given to the nation’s top receiver.

Mike Regalado of Bruin Report mentioned the news on Friday morning, and it’s a well-deserved honor for Sturdivant.

The entire watch list will be released on August 7, but Sturdivant’s name making the cut isn’t all that surprising.

In 2023, Sturdivant had 36 catches for 597 yards and four touchdowns, which is a drop off from his 2022 season at Cal. With the Golden Bears, he had 65 catches for 755 yards and seven scores.

BUt, add in Ethan Garbers’ improvement and a revamped offense with Eric Bieniemy calling the plays, and Sturdivant could be in for a huge season.
