The Chicago Bulls lost yet another clutch time game on Sunday as Indiana’s Tyrese Haliburton hit a 30-foot 3-pointer with 2.1 seconds remaining to steal the game.
With the loss, the Pacers jumped the Bulls in the Eastern Conference standings, landing Chicago in the No. 12 slot, sitting 1.5 games behind the Washington Wizards for the final play-in spot.
Following Sunday’s result, Nikola Vucevic spoke with The Athletic on if there’s any hope of the Bulls making a run at the postseason with 17 games remaining.
“It doesn’t really depend on us anymore. I mean, it does. We have to win. But we’re depending on the people in front of us, on how they do,” Vucevic said. “So it’s hard to say after 65 games we didn’t figure it out. It’s tough to believe that something’s just going to (click) like that. We’ll see.”
Last season, the Bulls were 25-16 in clutch games. This season, Chicago is 11-22 in games within five points in the final five minutes of the game.
If the Bulls hope to sneak into the playoffs, let alone the play-in tournament, they must come away with some wins in these clutch games, which has helped place them in this ‘very difficult spot’ with a little over a month left in the season.
“We’re going to keep fighting, keep hoping something happens,” Vucevic said. “But it’s obvious we’ve put ourselves in a very difficult spot now.”
