It Takes Two sells more than 5 million copies

EA’s bizarre co-op adventure is a hit.

It Takes Two, one of the best surprises of 2021, keeps racking up wins as developer Hazelight Studios announces that its crossed 5 million copies sold, outselling the studio’s previous game A Way Out and becoming the developer’s biggest title yet.

When It Takes Two came out last March, it was well received for having wildly inventive co-op gameplay that kept players on their toes and a wacky story that never seemed to stop swinging for the fences

While some critics and players took issue with its varying tones, the game has become something of a co-op staple for friends or couples looking to sit down and play something together due to its great variety and casual nature. It’s clear that this has paid off well, transforming It Takes Two into a huge success.

The journey doesn’t stop there, though. In December, It Takes Two surprised many by taking home top honors at the Game Awards. In January of this year, the hot streak continued when it was announced that It Takes Two would also receive a feature film or television adaptation by production company dj2, which is quickly making a name for itself with video game adaptations such as the recent Sonic the Hedgehog films and the 2019 RPG Disco Elysium. Clearly, this game’s got legs.
