Isaiah Thomas rules out a Celtics return

The fan favorite floor general shut down hopes of a reunion with Boston over the weekend.

If there were still Boston Celtics fans holding out hope of an Isaiah Thomas return, the man himself seemingly put the notion to bed on Twitter on Jan. 31.

The beloved 5-foot-9 floor general replied to a tweet from popular Celtics blogger Dan Greenberg as Greenberg attempted to talk an IT – Boston reunion into existence, saying “I always appreciate the love bro. I’ve tried to make it happen. It’s over for coming back killa”. Thomas, who rose to fame with an underdog Celtics roster rocketing back into prominence early after an unexpected brief rebuild fueled in part by his offensive proclivities.

The era ended after he was dealt away in 2017 following significant injuries to his hip which plagued him until he had major surgery during the NBA’s recent pandemic hiatus.

Now representing Team USA in the AmeriCup qualifiers taking place this month in San Juan, Puerto Rico along with fellow Boston alumnus Joe Johnson, IT hopes to garner the attention of an NBA club with her performance there.

But it doesn’t seem he thinks it will be with the Celtics, to the dismay of many.
