Isaiah Simmons won’t stay away from Cardinals for long

Simmons, traded to the Giants on Thursday, will return to State Farm Stadium in Week 2.

The Arizona Cardinals announced they traded safety Isaiah Simmons to the New York Giants for a 2024 seventh-round draft pick on Thursday. Simmons, drafted eighth overall by the Cardinals in 2020, now gets a fresh start.

But he won’t be away long.

The Giants play the Cardinals in Week 2 at State Farm Stadium, so Simmons will have a homecoming/revenge game in just a few weeks.

In three seasons for the Cardinals, Simmons appeared in 50 games, starting 37 of them. He totaled 258 tackles, 13 tackles for loss, 11 quarterback hits, 7.5 sacks, seven forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, 16 pass breakups and four interceptions, one returned for a touchdown.
