Is trading for former Boston Celtics point guard Marcus Smart the Memphis Grizzlies’ biggest regret of the offseason? The Grizzlies had a disappointing end to their previous season, losing in the first round of the playoffs to the LA Lakers. Despite their regular season success, they realized they needed to make changes, as they lacked leadership and maturity.
They brought in Marcus Smart from Boston to improve their defense and leadership. But Smart has not lived up to expectations, and the Griz have struggled, even without Ja Morant. Smart’s shooting has been inconsistent, and his offensive impact has been minimal. The team’s offensive rating has dropped, and they are currently last in the league in offensive efficiency.
Memphis is not a title-contending team, and the addition of Smart has set them back.
