Is Rocket Sanders best player on the Hogs’ offense?

Rocket Sanders’ game Saturday helped Arkansas to another win. The Heisman campaign has begun.

Another win by the Razorbacks and another big performance from Rocket Sanders.

Rocket Sanders had another great day and saved the Arkansas undefeated season in the Hogs’ 38-27 victory. Sanders’s 73-yard touchdown at the beginning of the fourth quarter cut Missouri State’s ten-point lead and ignited a 21-point fourth quarter for the Hogs.

“That’s why his momma named him Rocket.” Sam Pittman said about the running back’s long-distance touchdown.

Sanders has 557 total yards and four touchdowns this season. Alongside KJ Jefferson, he has been the most consistent player on the Razorbacks’ offense, and if it weren’t for the goal line football, his three-game run would be mistake-free.

“It was unfortunate for him because he took it personally, good players do,” Pittman said about Sanders’s fumble. “When he lost it down there on the one[yard line], he came back and said, ‘I got to make up for it.’ Good ones do that. Just down the pipe shovel with him. The o-line blocked it up, and he just took off. It was beautiful. We needed it bad.”

Sanders leads the conference in rushing yards and rushing attempts by a decent margin in both categories. Last Arkansas running back to lead the SEC in rushing was Darren McFadden in 2007.

Texas A&M’s rushing defense is one of the worst in the SEC, allowing 153 yards a game to rank 12th out of the league’s 14 teams. Sanders has increased his rushing total each game this season. Could this be the first 200-yard game of his career?

If it is, bank on Arkansas walking away with a second straight win in the series.
