Auburn’s resume took a slight hit when they were watching college football from home during their bye week.
The Tigers were in a great spot entering the weekend with their only two losses being against the best team and college football, Georgia, and a top ten Big 10 team, Penn State.
The Penn State Nittany Lions fell in historic fashion. They lost the first-ever college football game to have nine overtimes. They lost to a bad Illinois team 20-18.
Based on how they played and the fact that Illinois had just one game so far this season entering the weekend, the Nittany Lions will fall in the rankings and the perception of being a quality loss on the Auburn resume will take a hit.
Sure this may not matter when it’s all said and done because Auburn has to take care of business and win games against tough opponents but the path of the first Bryan Harsin team finishing in the top-15 got a tad tougher thanks to Penn State’s loss.
Auburn lost to Penn State 28-20 on September 18 in Happy Valley.
