Is Micah Welch playing today? Injury update for Colorado running back

Colorado running back Micah Welch is dealing with a hamstring injury. Here is the latest update:

Micah Welch has been a positive contributor to Colorado football’s offense so far this season, but the true freshman running back is currently dealing with a hamstring injury.

Through eight games, Welch owns 121 yards on 24 carries (5.0 yards per rush) and three touchdowns. He was first used prominently in Colorado’s Week 3 win over rival Colorado State.

Welch didn’t see any carries against Kansas State in Week 7 and took only one last week at Arizona.

Kickoff between Colorado and Cincinnati is set for 8:15 p.m. MT on ESPN.

Micah Welch injury update

According to Scott Procter of The Coloradoan, Welch isn’t in uniform for the Buffs’ Week 9 game against Cincinnati.

How long will Micah Welch be out?

It’s unclear how long Welch will miss, but the injury doesn’t appear serious. Colorado has a bye next week, meaning Welch could be positioned to return in Week 11 against Texas Tech.

Colorado depth chart at running back

Head coach Deion Sanders told the media earlier this week that he expects Isaiah Augustave to start at running back for the second straight game. Last week, the Arkansas transfer rushed for 53 yards and one touchdown.

Behind Augustave, Dallan Hayden should be next in line to receive carries. Charlie Offerdahl, who produced a team-high 56 rushing yards against Arizona, is also available.
