With the playoffs right around the corner and the Los Angeles Rams locked in as the No. 3 or 4 seed in the NFC, Sean McVay is playing it safe. For today’s game against the Seattle Seahawks, he’s going to rest many of his top starters, holding them out and avoiding any potential injuries.
The list of players who will be resting includes Matthew Stafford, who has played every game and taken every single snap for the Rams this year. Though he’s healthy, McVay wants to make sure it stays that way for the start of the playoffs.
Matthew Stafford update
Stafford will not play against the Seahawks, McVay said last week. He’s dealing with typical bumps and bruises from the toll of the season and while he’s healthy enough to play, the Rams are going to hold him out.
Rams QB depth chart
With Stafford being inactive, the Rams will turn to Jimmy Garoppolo as their starting quarterback and Stetson Bennett as the backup. This will be Garoppolo’s first opportunity to play since 2023 and his first snaps as a member of the Rams.
He didn’t even play in the preseason so it’s been over a year since he was in a game.
