There have been many articles and tweets written about the Brooklyn Nets possibly going after Portland Trail Blazers superstar Damian Lillard after he attended Game 3 of Brooklyn’s first-round series against the Philadelphia 76ers. To add to the hype, Lillard has praised wing Mikal Bridges for what he brings to a team and people ran with those comments.
Since then, there have been numerous mock trades in which the Nets get Lillard for a variety of players and assets. If Brooklyn decides to go all-in on getting back into the NBA championship picture, Lillard seems to make the most sense in terms of acquiring a star-level player in a trade.
However, there are some who believe that even if the Nets were able to pull off a trade for Lillard, the team would not be good enough to have a good chance at winning a title. If the playoffs are any indication, Brooklyn may need a lot more than just Lillard if they wanna be on the level of the Milwaukee Bucks, Boston Celtics, and Philadelphia 76ers.
Hypothetically since this seems to be in the news, Brooklyn mortgaging just about all of its draft future for a Lillard-Bridges-Cam Johnson-DFS-Claxton core seems like a pretty bizarre choice to me?
