Deshaun Watson made a huge impression on the veterans in the 2018 Houston Texans locker room.
The second-year signal caller played took a beating in the Week 5 overtime win against the Dallas Cowboys. Watson sustained a punctured lung and a broken rib, and gutted it out over the next two games, including taking a bus from Houston to Jacksonville for a Week 7 road game — all the while leading Houston to a nine-game winning streak to recover Houston’s 0-4 record.
One of those veterans was defensive back Kareem Jackson, who left in free agency after spending his first nine years with the Texans after being their 2010 first-round pick.
Jackson signed with the Denver Broncos in 2019 free agency, but his admiration for Watson is as high as it was when he was with the AFC South club.
On Jan. 28, Jackson retweeted an ESPN tweet stating Watson sought a trade. Jackson’s comments were three emojis to express surprise.
On Jan. 30, Jackson tweeted, “I see all the tweets!! Just know I’m working on it” with a smiling emoji.

The implication can only mean that Jackson is “working on” the recruitment of Watson, evident by his calling a user “stupid” for suggesting it would take five first-round picks to lure Watson to the Mile High City.
According to the Broncos Wire’s Jon Heath, via Woody Paige, the three-time Pro Bowl quarterback has zero interest in going to Denver.
Regardless of what happens with Watson in Denver, his former teammates in other NFL cities recruiting him to come there may be a story line until Watson is traded or the trade fire is choked out by general manager Nick Caserio, coach David Culley, and chairman and CEO Cal McNair.
