As the offseason for most teams is just getting started, it seems we already have plenty of drama down south when it comes to the Houston Texans and their supposed franchise quarterback in Deshaun Watson.
The NFL’s leader in passing yards this season, Watson is a quarterback that nearly every team would love having as their leader of the offense. However, he seems discontent with the way things are being run in Houston and could be on his way out of the division via trade.
Per a report from ESPN, Watson is unhappy with the organization and could even hold out if these issues don’t get resolved.
Watson is still upset with the Texans over, among other issues, the process they used to hire general manager Nick Caserio, according to multiple sources, leading to widespread speculation that Houston could trade the star quarterback this offseason or be faced with the real possibility that he could decide to withhold his services and not report if he isn’t dealt.
While it is fun to imagine what Watson would look like in a Colts uniform, it’s almost a guarantee it won’t happen. Even with the kind of haul the Texans could get, they would be foolish to deal him in the division.
But that doesn’t mean he is going to stay with the Texans. The rumors are already starting that the Dolphins are a suitor for Watson, given they could give Tua Tagovailoa and a bunch of picks in return.
With Watson in Houston, Ryan Tannehill in Tennessee and Trevor Lawrence heading to Jacksonville, the quarterback play is strong in the division.
But it could get a bit worse if the Texans wind up dealing Watson and letting go of what could have been a phenomenal franchise quarterback.
