Much like the rest of the New Orleans Saints, wide receiver Chris Olave has had a year to forget. Olave had flashes of being his regular productive self when healthy, but multiple additional head injuries have kept him on the side line for over half the season.
Saints head coach Darren Rizzi finally shared that he returned to practice recently, the first major positive momentum since his last injury. That started to build speculation that he would play again this year, continuing into this matchup with the Las Vegas Raiders.
Chris Olave injury update
If he does come back this year, however, it will have to wait a little longer to happen. Despite being a full participant at practice all week, Olave was ruled out for the match against the Raiders on Saturday.
How long will Chris Olave be out?
In all likelihood, the star wideout will be out the rest of the season. He is healthy enough to practice, but there isn’t much sense in pushing it past that at this point. Getting him back to 100% and focusing on next year is the best investment.
Saints WR depth chart
Without Olave playing, the wide receiver group that Spencer Rattler is working with will be barren. Marquez Valdez-Scantling is at least questionable, leaving the door open for some potential.
- Marquez Valdez-Scantling (Questionable)
- Kevin Austin Jr.
- Dante Pettis
- Mason Tipton
- Cedrick Wilson Jr.
