Georgia Bulldogs quarterback back Carson Beck missed the second half of the SEC championship game against the Texas Longhorns due to an elbow injury. Beck is Georgia’s leading passer with 3,485 passing yards, 28 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. He has started 27 consecutive games, and the Bulldogs have gone 24-3 in those contests.
Beck is not expected to play in the Sugar Bowl against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Back up quarterback Gunner Stockton will replace Carson Beck.
Carson Beck injury update
Carson Beck is also out for the remainder of the College Football Playoff. He underwent a significant surgery on his elbow.
“Georgia quarterback Carson Beck underwent successful surgery Monday (Dec. 23) on his right elbow to repair his ulnar collateral ligament (UCL), performed by renowned orthopedic surgeon Dr. Neal ElAttrache in Los Angeles, Ca,” said Georgia football in a recent statement. “A full recovery is expected with throwing to begin spring of 2025.”
Georgia QB depth chart
1. Gunner Stockton
2. Ryan Puglisi
3. Jaden Rashada
Stockton is more of a dual threat quarterback than Beck, so Georgia fans should expect to see more designed quarterback runs. Stockton put up monster numbers in high school, but he has very limited experience in college. He has no career starts and 51 career passing attempts.
Behind Stockton is expected to be true freshman Ryan Puglisi, who has impressed in practice. Arizona State transfer Jaden Rashada has limited starting experience and is competing for the No. 2 quarterback role.
