Is Boston’s Jayson Tatum one of the next players likely to win Most Valuable Player?

It’s just a matter of time until Tatum hoists the Michael Jordan trophy over his head — right?

For much of the first half of the 2022-23 NBA season, star Boston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum was easily leading the field for the NBA’s 2023 Most Valuable Player award. But the St. Louis native’s season tapered off midway through the Celtics’ campaign to win Banner 18.

In spite of that fade, the former Duke standout has shown he belongs in that top-five stratosphere when he puts his mind to it. So it is likely just a matter of time until Tatum hoists the Michael Jordan trophy over his head himself instead of trying to go through his pregame routine while some other guy gets the glory.

At least that is our theory. What do other analysts think of such a potential future for the Celtics star?

Take a look at the clip embedded above to hear ESPN’s Tim Legler debate with JJ Redick over what younger players might be next in line for the major accolade on a recent episode of the “Old Man and the Three” podcast.
