Is Anthony Miller primed for a breakout season in 2020?

Bears receiver Anthony Miller could be in for a big season in 2020. That is, if everything works out on offense.

Expectations were high for Bears receiver Anthony Miller heading into 2019. Although coming off an injury and acclimating to the playbook equated to a slow start for the second-year receiver.

Miller didn’t play nearly to his potential the entire season. But when he did, he was electric. The Week 13 matchup against the Lions comes to mind, where Miller had a career-high nine catches for 140 yards in a thrilling Thanksgiving win.

Last season, Miller had a five-game stretch of 33 receptions for 431 yards and two touchdowns between Weeks 11-15. When the Bears offense was working, Miller was thriving.

Bleacher Report believes that Miller could be in for a big season with the Bears. That is, if everything works out on offense.

The former Memphis standout improved from his rookie season (656 yards versus 423 yards in 2018) despite a decline in Trubisky’s efficiency. Lazor has typically run offenses that utilize pass-heavy West Coast concepts. This should mean more opportunities for Miller.

Miller could also benefit from an expanded role in Chicago’s passing attack. Disappointing tight end Trey Burton and wideout Taylor Gabriel are both potential cap casualties for the Bears, who are projected to have just $20.9 million in cap space.

Unfortunately for Miller, this offseason will once again be about recovering from shoulder on his left shoulder, which he sustained returning a kickoff in the season finale against the Vikings.

Let’s hope that it doesn’t take Miller as long to get going in 2020 as it did last season.
